Tim Jackson- Masi Guy

One year at Interbike, the company I was working for (Canari Cyclewear) was running video clips from bike races on a big flatscreen TV in the booth. There was a sprint finish at the Tour de France and Phil was the announcer, of course, and was his usual heated self. So this clip is playing and he's wailing away about the finish and at that moment Phil himself comes walking by the booth and spins around on his heels when he hears his own voice blaring from our booth. He stopped for a second and watched the screen, smiled and walked off down the aisle. He didn't say a word, just smiled and walked away. One of the coolest guys ever!

At that same trade show, Alessandro Petacchi walked by the booth during one of those videos showing him win a stage of the Tour or Giro. He and his entourage of stylish Italians stopped for a few minutes and stood in front of the booth to watch the video and then sign a few autographs. I was impressed with his class. He does appear to be a humble man for such a star in the cycling world.

"Armstrong is coming down the finishing straight like a Grand Prix Motorcar!

I've had some good experiences with the 'for dummies' series - although maybe I fall into the dummy category more than you do. I'm not going to go out and buy it but agree with you that it's good for the sport to get even greater exposure. Liggett will give some great insight for the book, although it could never be the same as listening to him when he's in full flight.
